The course and severity of lower respiratory diseases (LRDs)
are often affected by the inflammation caused by underlying
allergy. Successful management of asthma depends on distinguishing
between allergic and non-allergic disease and accurately identifying
a patient’s symptom triggers. In managing bronchitis,
the clinician must first differentiate the condition from other
lung diseases. Despite different etiologies, these conditions
share three common confounding symptoms: cough, wheezing, and
dyspnea.

When used with the history, physical, and respiratory function
testing, ImmunoCAP specific IgE
blood testing offers
primary care clinicians a valuable tool to help rule in or
out the presence of atopy, aid accurate diagnosis, and guide
effective management (through
avoidance of identified allergen triggers, treatment selection,
or timely referral).
